Welcome to the Class of 2024 #CountdownToCommissioning! ⚓️⚓️ This week, we are taking a look into how the mids train for a career in the Surface Warfare community. Every midshipman is taught seamanship and navigation skills to complement the rest of their training at the Academy. The mids are then able to apply these skills on the water by training on and taking charge of the Yard Patrol (YP) crafts. The training doesn’t stop there, they also learn more technical aspects of the YPs including intricate knowledge of the electrical and propulsion systems on board the vessel.
