Welcome back to the series #AskTheMidsMonday, where we have midshipmen answer your questions. For this Monday, we interviewed several first class (senior) midshipmen who have service selected submarines. The midshipmen featured are MIDN 1/C Vanessa Ortiz, MIDN 1/C Clifford Vuong, MIDN 1/C Amanda Agustin, and MIDN 1/C Joseph Day. The three questions for our midshipmen were: 1) What’s your ideal submarine and where? 2) A submariner you look up to? 3) How do you pronounce this word: submariner? Some terminology used: Fast Attack: a multi-mission submarine capable of surveillance and intelligence gathering, special warfare operations, mining and anti-mine operations, precision strike, anti-submarine warfare, and anti-surface warfare, just to name a few. Boomer: nickname given to a ballistic submarine designed specifically for stealth and the precise delivery of nuclear warheads.
