In three days, midshipmen assigned to be Surface Warfare Officers (SWO) will choose their first ship and homeport during the U.S. Naval Academy’s annual Ship Selection Night in Alumni Hall, Feb.2. This Monday, we are featuring First Class (senior) midshipmen in the #ClassOf2023 who will commission as Surface Warfare Officers (SWOs) in May. Featured are MIDN 1/C Journey Peters, SWO IP; MIDN 1/C Adan Valdez, SWO METOC; MIDN 1/C Graziel Hinola, Nuke SWO; and MIDN 1/C Kristen Ocampo, Nuke SWO. SWO IP: Information Professional (IP) Option Officers are commissioned as a Surface Warfare Officer (SWO) where they will complete a SWO tour and qualify as a Surface Warfare Officer.
