In Alabama, another first has been made for a program specially for students interested in nursing careers. Tuskegee University has launched the state’s first nursing apprenticeship program at an HBCU, giving students a chance to earn while they learn.
📍Through a partnership with Baptist Health System, students will receive classroom instruction, hands-on clinical experience, and one-on-one mentorship.
The program also helps remove financial barriers, offering “last dollar” scholarships to cover remaining tuition costs while students earn wages during training.
Tuskegee was the FIRST HBCU with a baccalaureate nursing program in Alabama and one of the oldest HBCU nursing programs in the country.
