Pre-orders give a clear message to the publisher that there’s demand for a title, and they’ll print more copies and work harder to promote it (meaning I won’t have to make more awkward videos). As well as the big book stores like Barnes & Noble, WH Smith’s, and Angus and Robinson, going into your local independent bookshop and asking them to order a book in advance of its release is one of the most supportive things you can do for a first time author like myself.
