Grateful for the invitation to speak in John Garlick’s Group Counseling class today at jacksonvillestateuniversity We talked about the group process, from intention to integration, and then we talked about the why. Your why is what keeps you in the game when things get hard. When the work doesn’t go as planned. When life gets heavy. When the world feels loud and uncertain. Your why isn’t just inspiration, it’s your compass. It informs the opportunities you say yes to, the boundaries you hold, and the kind of life your work is meant to support. And here’s something I always remind my students (and shared today): As leaders and space-holders, this work cannot be our entire world. When all we hear are people’s struggles, it’s easy to lose sight of the good. To grow tired. Bitter. Disconnected.
