I love French Baroque and that is an understatement!! 😁 I’ve viewed so many historic buildings as a kid travelling across France with my parents that I completely overdosed at the time! But then with age, the style grew massively in me. Originated in the early 17th century to late 18th century, it’s an architecture of strength and opulence to reflect the power of the French monarchy under the ruling of Louis XIV, le roi soleil (sun king).   Although dramatic and rich in grandeur, it’s deliberately different to Italian baroque, taking on a more classical style than its European counterparts and therefore sometimes referred to as French Classicism. It’s a style I’ve seen in many beautiful properties in France, characterised by the use of symmetry, decorative pillars and curved lines to create dynamic perspectives.   Feels familiar? No wonder! :) You will find this style in many landmark buildings across France; Palace of Versailles, Invalides Dôme, Place Vendôme, Place de la Concorde, ...
