We always had a steady stream of queries from clients looking to buy in the Alps, but the interest for that region and the demand has nearly doubled in the past 12 months, with buyers looking for more outdoor space, fresh air and escape.
That led to a mini boom in the Alps, mainly driven by domestic demand so far, with international buyers waiting for travel restrictions to be lifted to position themselves. The alps are made of ultra-protected regional parks, with restricted planning permission and therefore limited new stock. That means one thing; if demand increases, prices will only go one way…up.
The Haute Savoie, North part of the Alps is leading the charge with residential prices up 7%, this is based on 2020 transactions, so actual land registry data. Hot spots are Chamonix, Megeve and Morzine. Expect to pay €8,000 per sqm upward for prime.
