I recently did a flex bronch for a patient who developed pneumonia from being in the hospital (HAP). These cases are a little different from the typical general anesthetic. The proceduralist requires an 8.5mm ETT for the bronchoscope to be able to pass through. Because of this, the circuit isn’t closed anymore. We have to use a propofol infusion to keep the patient asleep instead of an inhalational agent. Otherwise sevoflurane would leak out into the air.. Induction, antiemetics and reversal drugs generally are the same. Cases tend to be quick and lasts about 30min-1hr long.
