Long ago, the demon king Hiranyakashipu demanded that everyone worship him as a god. But his own son Prahlada refused. Prahlad believed only in Vishnu. Furious, the king tried many times to kill him. Finally, he asked his sister Holika, who had a boon that fire could not burn her. She sat in a blazing pyre with Prahlad in her lap. But the boon failed because it was used for evil. Holika burned in the fire… and Prahlad emerged unharmed.
