For the first time EVER, the NCAA Tournament total viewership surpassed the most prestigious annual awards ceremony, The Oscars this past Sunday (March 22nd, 2026) The NCAA Tournament totaled roughly 19.7 million views, while the Oscar’s were just lower than 18 million watchers. Actors such as Michael B Jordan, Jessie Buckley and Sean Penn to list a few were all honored with awards but still wasn’t enough to capture the American viewership during the March Madness Tournament.
