I LOVEEE Bread - so I’m always on the search for the best cleanest ones. This is Whole Foods edition. I was glad to see none of these had L Cysteine although I did see some other things that I don’t like. When shopping for anything I ignore the “Organic” front labels and go straight to the back. I look at function + formulation. A traditional European-style bread is simple: flour, water, salt, fermentation. That’s it. If a bread has added enzymes, conditioners, or ingredients you can’t pronounce, it’s usually designed for speed and shelf life — not Usssss baby. ⚠️Avoid breads with: “Enriched” flours Natural Flavors L-Cysteine Dough conditioners / dough improvers DATEM Azodicarbonamide Mono- & diglycerides Soybean oil, canola oil, sunflower oil Added sugars beyond a small amount (malt syrup, corn syrup, glucose) and never listed in the first 3 ingredients. 🍞🥖 What to Look For Instead: 1st ingredient: organic wheat/ whole wheat.
