 On January 3, 1510 (Hijra year 915, Ramadan 22), Albuquerque arrived with his army in pathemari boats through the Kallayi estuary and attacked Kozhikode town. They set fire to several mosques in the attack, and the upper part of the Mishkal Mosque was completely destroyed by fire during this assault.
