If you’re over 40, your workouts should change. In perimenopause and menopause: Hormones shift. Recovery changes. Muscle becomes harder to maintain. So doing more cardio and eating less backfires. Your body actually needs: Strength training. Protein. Recovery. Your body needs muscle more than miles on the treadmill. Muscle helps: Support metabolism. Improve insulin sensitivity. Protect bone health. Yet most women are still being told to just burn more calories. HIIT and extra cardio worked for me for years. Until it didn’t.
