On Wednesday 25th February, I attended The Re-Claim Project invited by Eugene Ankomah — and it was one of the most powerful immersive art installations I’ve ever experienced. This wasn’t just art. It was truth. It was grief. It was our streets. The experience was divided into three stages. It began with young people dressed in full PPE and Tyvek suits — reminiscent of CSI: Crime Scene Investigation — greeting us silently and handing out flowers. That image alone said everything: our youth forced into the role of crime scene responders in their own communities. Then came the “incident trail.” Clues. Silence. Tension. A forensic tent, fully zipped — symbolising safety, shelter, dignity for the life lost. As we moved into the second stage, the space transformed.
