This project was built by an all-women team, weaving ideas, hands, and hearts together. 🌿 This year, we reflect on a powerful phrase: “Kadın kadının yurdudur.”(A woman is a yurt for another woman.) As melikebayik shared with me this week, “For Turkic cultures, çadır is a yurt.” The tent—çadır—is a yurt—a nomadic home, a space of identity and continuity.This contrasts with my Chinese/Taiwanese roots, where stability is tied to permanent residences. Maybe that’s why Hiromita is nomadic and courageous—carrying her home within her, shaped by my Turkish nomadic heritage and East Asian background. A synthesis of both worlds.
