Only thing I can do now is to prioritize art making and ignore the rest of the other stuff. My purpose is to find a visual way to tell my layered stories. My existence. My new series is coming from a place of embracing my past, my dreams and knowing that I will vanish one day. Like those people who wrote the oracle bone scripts thousands of years ago in Ancient China. They dreamed and wanted to depict it. They created the word meng (dream) with a person moving his/her/their hands while dreaming and there is a bed there. The eyes and eye lashes are clear. Four thousand years later I notice the way they wanted to depict a dream. In my new ‘Inscriptions of a Dreamed Existence’ series, I use ancient Chinese inscriptions. Where the line between a drawing and a script was not clear. Logographic times. I learnt traditional Chinese when I was 7 years old when we moved to Taiwan with my family.
