I wrote “courage” in #nushu script on my most recent Hiromita painting titled “Inner Courage.” #Nüshu is an old writing system developed by women in rural #China I find women who developed nüshu script as courageous women and honor them in my Hiromita series that depict a #wamao / tile cat figurine who belongs and stays true to herself, connects with others wholeheartedly and reminds you to be authentic. “Nüshu literally means “women’s writing” in Chinese. Today it is the world’s only script designed and used exclusively by women.
