When you’ve photographed someone many times, it’s easy to feel like you’ve played all your cards. The ideas start to feel familiar, and suddenly you find yourself deep in overthinking mode. “How do I create something fresh?”
That’s usually my cue to go hunting for elements I haven’t used before. A new prop, a different light, a subtle styling shift, or even a whole new mood. Anything to spark a different feeling and layer the story in a new way.
For this particular look, my team had set up a background meant for another outfit. But last minute, that outfit had to be moved to the second look. It had already been a packed week, and I didn’t want to wear my team out. So I asked for something simpler. “Let’s just add the poly boards instead of a full background change.”
A few minutes later, I remembered my new favorite plant and asked for it to be brought onto the set.
