Born Sarah Breedlove to formerly enslaved parents, Walker created haircare products specifically for Black women, founding the Madam C.J. Walker Manufacturing Company and employing thousands of women as sales agents across the country. She turned beauty into economic power at a time when both were denied to us. But her impact didn’t stop at business. She invested in Black institutions, funded scholarships, supported anti-lynching efforts, and used her platform for activism and advancement.
