Nobody prepares you for how loud your own voice gets when there is nobody else’s in the room. I have been moving through the world largely alone for years now. Different countries, different time zones, different versions of myself showing up depending on what the place asked of me. What I know now is that solo living is not lonely. It is educational in a way that nothing else has come close to replicating. You learn what you actually think when you are not reflexively thinking what the room expects. You learn what you want for dinner when nobody is negotiating. You learn what frightens you and what does not and the gap between those two lists is more useful than any strategy session I have ever sat in. I built my business in that gap.
