I have lost count the amount of times people ask me “how do you do this? Running a business (hospitality one, no less) and raising a toddler full time?”
The truth is, to tell that I am coping, it’s a lie. BIG LIE.
You are looking at a highly functioning depressed person.
But just as Rihanna said, “fake it till you make it”. And I believe this is the case for almost all of us Mothers. We show up, everyday, sick or healthy, depressed or not. Because in our body, there is some unbelievable strength we pulled out from that sheer love to those little souls we call ours.
We feel short, inadequate, broken, tired, invisible and under-appreciated almost all the time, and we ask ourselves “how long more can this go on? I could never win”
Today I looked at his face as he chased me around the park, and it was just like a lightning bolt struck me.
I’m enough. I am not invisible, I am all he sees and look up to right now. I am definitely adequate, because how else can I make one person laugh ...
