I always thought I’d follow my parents’ footsteps and go to med school. But between being failed by the system as a kid, shadowing physicians who were frustrated seeing the same patients come back for the same procedures, and discovering neuroscience and neuroplasticity, it became clear this wasn’t about bad doctors. Doctors aren’t taught this. And that matters. Once I understood that we can actually change our brains and bodies, and that this process is upregulated by lifestyle habits like sleep, movement, nutrition, and behavior, it was a perfect storm. I realized we have agency, and that there’s more powerful medicine than what’s taught in medical school. That’s what pulled me into exercise physiology, nutrition, psychology, and neuroscience.
