When I was 21 years old, I went to prison for the first time.
They sent me to Yardville Youth Correctional Facility… also known as “Gladiator School.” 🥊
I was facing a first-degree armed robbery charge, and at first I was looking at 15 years.
I’m not gonna sit here and pretend I wasn’t scared.
I was 165 pounds soaking wet and surrounded by grown men doing serious time.
But fear doesn’t solve anything.
So I had to handle my business like a man.
While I was there, I made a decision… I wasn’t going to waste that time.
Most guys were playing spades, dominoes, arguing over the TV, and killing time. ♠️
Meanwhile I was in my room working out and educating myself.
My stepmother sent me flashcards, anatomy books, and nutrition books so I could study for my personal training certification. 📚
When I wasn’t reading… I was training.
And when there were no weights, I made my own with trash bags filled with water. 🏋️♂️
I couldn’t control where I was…
But I could control who I was go...
