Meet the finalists for the 2026 Outstanding Women of Laurier Award in this video series presented by forbeswaterlootoyota A third-year arts major, Abby Byers has excelled both academically and athletically as a two-sport athlete. The Woolwich, Ont., native was named an OUA women’s rugby second team all-star in 2024. Before arriving at Laurier, Byers was an elite alpine ski racer who ranked 10th in Canada in downhill skiing. Byers currently coaches youth alpine ski racers at Chicopee Ski Club and Devil’s Glen Country Club, returning to the clubs where she first learned the sport.
