The hardest part wasn’t the mornings.
It was the silence from people who used to check in.
The looks at school pickup.
The well-meaning advice that felt like an indictment.
The slow realisation that most people had already decided what kind of parent I was.
I didn’t have the language for it then.
I just knew that what we were being told to do was making my daughter worse, not better.
And I knew I couldn’t keep doing it just to make other people comfortable.
So I made a decision that felt terrifying at the time.
And I’d make it again without hesitation.
If you’re in that place right now - holding your child together while quietly falling apart yourself - I want you to know that trusting your instincts over the noise is not giving up.
It’s the bravest thing you’ll do.
🍒 The toolkit that helped us is in my bio.
