As a family raising a son who is considered "Non or Minimally Verbal", we wanted to share a bit more about this to raise awareness and to share tips on how to accommodate people who may communicate differently from us. Our son chimaobijax is highly intelligent and expressive, he just doesn't communicate the way most people expect a 6 year old to communicate at this time. Right now, he doesn't clearly and consistently speak with words, phrases and sentences. So here are a few things we try to do 1. Continue to speak to him and and have conversations with to him like he's responding to us verbally 2. Remain expectant that he can respond with his words at any moment. 3. We encourage and celebrate every sound and attempts he makes and speaking. 4.
