Some days ago, I had the privilege of addressing the bright students of the Department of Social Work at Hindustan College of Arts & Science, Hindustan University on a subject very close to my heart – the importance of Human Rights Education. In my session, I emphasized that human rights are not just written words in international declarations or constitutions, but living principles that safeguard the dignity and equality of every human being. For students of social work, understanding and defending these rights is not merely an academic pursuit – it is a moral responsibility that will shape them into true advocates of social justice. I believe youth, especially those entering the field of social work, carry an extraordinary role in bridging the gap between communities and institutions.
