A Crossroad in the Sky ☁️ What if we could connect four buildings conceptually using a single unifying program? The project begins with a study of New York's 1916 zoning law and its effects on architectural form and utilizes parametric sun studies and heliomorphism to understand the optimized angle for sun penetration to the street. Subsequently, the project also studies the relationship between New York architectural morphologies and forced perspective and anamorphism. The final form of the facade incorporates a horizontal gradient to create an illusion of flattened and stretched perception and a vertical gradient to create an animated anamorphism effect. Finally, the project explores the use of above-ground connections in New York City to connect a single program that ran across the four buildings, unifying four buildings as one.
