If you’ve never heard of it, prodromal labor is basically your body rehearsing for the real thing.
It can look like:
regular contractions that come and go,
waves of pressure,
tightening that feels like early labor…
but it doesn’t quite progress yet.
In other words, your body is practicing. Preparing. Aligning babies. Softening your cervix.
And while it can be exhausting, it’s also incredibly purposeful.
As a Bradley childbirth education student, my focus during moments like this is simple:
slow breathing
surrendering to the sensations
guided meditation
and staying present in my body instead of fighting it.
Sometimes that means swaying my hips in the bathroom while brushing my teeth and letting the wave pass.
And with 36 weeks tomorrow, I’m officially entering the window where these babies can arrive safely at home.
So if my body wants to rehearse a little first…
I’m listening.
Anyone else experience prodromal labor before the real thing?
