π¬π§ UK Immigration Rules Update: What It Means for Indian Students
There has been a lot of discussion recently about the new UK immigration rules, so letβs clearly understand what has changed and how it impacts Indian students.
πΉ Post-Study Work (PSW) visa duration has been reduced. Earlier, students received 2 years after graduation to stay and look for jobs. Now, it has been reduced to 18 months.
πΉ Minimum salary requirement has increased. To stay and work long-term, the job must offer at least Β£38,700 per year, which is approximately βΉ40 lakh per annum.

The reality is that most Indian students choose high-paying sectors like technology, finance, and healthcare, where salaries are already comparatively strong. In fact, Indians are considered one of the most financially successful immigrant groups in the UK.
π Good news for PhD students:
If you are pursuing a PhD, there is no change. You will still get 3 years of post-study stay after graduation.
