My first adcc_official Worlds appearance was in 2022. I was 22 years old at the time and a brown belt. It was my first ever major nogi competition and my first time competing against a woman of that calibre. If I was being honest with myself, at the time, I was just happy to be there and part of such a major event. I had no expectation to win against these women I grew up admiring.
My biggest takeaway was an increase in confidence. Before and during the tournament I had imposter syndrome. I didn’t feel like I belonged there. But after, I realised that I could actually be up there with those girls. I built the belief in myself that I have the potential to win my own ADCC title. It was only up from there.
There are 700 days between ADCC 2022 and ADCC 2024. I had 700 days to develop and prepare for the challenge. I’m a completely different athlete now, than I was back then. I’m excited to showcase my evolution 🔥
