Most Americans believe recent US military action against Iran has gone too far and are worried about gasoline costs, according to a new poll by The Associated Press and NORC Center for Public Affairs Research.⁣ ⁣ About 59% of respondents said US action in Iran has been excessive. At the same time, 45% said they are highly concerned about affording gas in the coming months, up from 30% in a previous survey conducted after Donald Trump’s reelection.⁣ ⁣ While Trump’s overall approval rating remains steady at around 4 in 10, the poll suggests broad skepticism about further escalation. Most Americans oppose deploying ground troops, and about half say they have little or no trust in Trump to make decisions on the use of military force abroad.⁣ ⁣ There is, however, strong support for preventing Iran from obtaining a nuclear weapon, with roughly two-thirds calling it a top priority.
