Three tips to dominate the sled push in HYROX
The sled push is one of the biggest separators in the entire race. It punishes bad technique, spikes heart rate fast, and creates the most time lost when athletes attack it with strength instead of strategy. Here is how to execute it the right way.
One. Use an underhand grip
An underhand position lets you lock in your lats, stabilize the shoulder joint, and stay connected to the sled without wasting energy through your upper body. It also improves force transfer so more of your power goes into forward movement instead of slipping through your arms.
Two. Take a planned break at the halfway point
Do not wait until you are blown up to rest. Breaks that are programmed are always shorter and more efficient than breaks taken out of desperation. Push half the lane, reset your breathing, then drive the second half. This keeps your heart rate under control and reduces the drop off on the next run.
