My personal thoughts the period of Tisha B‘Av: As the three weeks and Tisha B’Av came to an end, I’ve found myself reflecting on the deeper meaning of this time. It’s a period of mourning, where we remember our history and the challenges our ancestors faced. But it’s also an opportunity for personal growth, to reflect on our own lives and recognize the many blessings we often take for granted. At times, it can feel hard to go without music or shopping for three weeks. I always listen to music, whether I’m going to work, on the way to the store or while I study and suddenly I can’t do that for almost a month. To many of us this seems like a tragedy. These small sacrifices seem so overwhelming and challenging in our daily lives. But when we compare them to the immense struggles our ancestors endured during this time—loss, exile, and devastation—our discomfort pales in comparison.
