How much gap do you give your sockets? Gave mine roughly 3mm extra on the cut out, then used 1mm mig wire to stop it falling through it seemed to weld better this way than the way I usually do it. My usual way would be to blow the hole the same width as the socket and the use a 2.4 wire to gap instead. I was just playing around an thought I would try it this way.
