When is the best time to visit the Isle of Skye? 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 SPOILER: It’s not actually summer... If you’re planning a Scotland trip and searching for when to visit the Isle of Skye, most advice will point you to May through September. That’s peak season in the Scottish Highlands. Accomodation is more expensive, tourist sites such as the Old Man of Storr and the Fairy Pools are at their busiest, and it’s also midge season! If you want fewer crowds, lower prices and less chance of being eaten alive, look at October, November, March or April instead. The Isle of Skye in the off-season feels completely different. You can hike the Old Man of Storr without queues. Drive through the Quiraing without traffic building up. Actually take your time at the Fairy Pools.
