According to officials in Crete, the blaze broke out just before 1 a.m. in a home on Chalet Court, with firefighters arriving at the scene within minutes. The intense fire in the one-story home drove firefighters into defensive positions, and they were able to bring the blaze under control within 40 minutes, officials said.
