21 years ago, I broke my leg at home plate in a pro ballgame. It ended one dream instantly, but opened another. That jersey hangs specifically in my office so that I walk by every day, Not as a trophy, but as a reminder. A reminder that Life doesn’t happen to you, It happens for you. That injury could’ve been the worst thing that ever happened to me. But it wasn’t. And in a weird way It became the best thing. Because of that moment: — I met my wife. — I have my kids. — I built a new purpose. — I have built a life that I am extremely proud of. Life, at times, will punch you in the face… and it’s your obligation to your future self to get back up. But it’s never the end—unless you decide to sit in the victim seat. You’ve got to ask yourself in the struggle: What’s the lesson? What’s the opportunity? What can I build from this?
