#MiddleEast have triggered a new crisis in plastic raw materials, threatening production across multiple industries ranging from automotive to food and textiles.
Industry representatives say the conflict in the region has disrupted the supply of key petrochemical inputs used in plastic manufacturing. As a result, imports of critical materials such as polyethylene, polypropylene and PVC have nearly come to a halt, creating severe supply shortages for manufacturers.
According to Şener Gençer, Chairman of the Aegean Plastics Industrialists Association and Vice President of the Plastics Industrialists Federation, almost no raw materials have arrived from abroad in the past week. He noted that some shipments already at sea have experienced price increases of up to 35% in U.S. dollar terms before even reaching port.
