South African food has never existed in isolation.
It was shaped by migration, colonisation, trade routes, and the many people who arrived here and made this place home.
Malay. Indian. Dutch. British. Portuguese. French. Indigenous.
Smoke. Spice. Story.
That’s what makes South African cuisine so powerful — it’s a conversation between cultures.
So this year, I’m following that story beyond our borders.
Not to teach.
But to learn.
By tasting.
Observing.
Cooking with locals.
And trying to recreate those dishes myself.
If you’ve been here from the beginning — stay with me.
If you’re new — you’re welcome at the table.
