š Cumalıkızık, Bursa
On our road trip, we stopped at Cumalıkızık, a tiny yet historically rich village near Bursa and a UNESCO World Heritage site.
This 700-year-old village is a rare, perfectly preserved example of early Ottoman rural settlementsāone of the main reasons it earned UNESCO recognition in 2014.
It dates back to the 14th century, established during the foundation of the Ottoman Empire.
The village has 270 traditional Ottoman houses, with about 180 still standing in their original form.
We explored its narrow cobblestone streets, tried Turkish coffee brewed on sand and a hearty breakfast by the fireplaceāa calming and authentic experience.
PS: Iām sure itās an even better experience in the summer! And also after a while, the shopkeepers trying to get us inside felt a bit overwhelming.
