Every 25 year old trainer will tell you the answer is simple. “Eat in a deficit. Eat more protein. Cut the junk.” So you did. You cut the bread. You cut the sugar. You’re eating more protein than you ever have. You’re choosing whole, clean, organic food. And the weight is still there. Or it’s climbing. I’m 49. I’ve spent 20+ years in clinical nutrition specializing in women’s hormones. And this is the most common pattern I see when I look at food diaries from women in perimenopause and menopause. The disconnect is not where you think. You heard that healthy fats balance blood sugar. True. You heard they keep you full. True. You heard they support your hormones. True. So you started adding them to every meal. Olive oil. Avocado. Nut butter. Coconut oil. Seeds. But nobody told you to look at how much fat was already IN the protein you chose. Salmon has 13g per serving. A well marbled steak has 20+. Eggs carry 5g each. And then you added your cooking fat on top. And your avocado. And...
