Today is #lachitdiwas - the 400th birth anniversary of #lachitbarphukan of Assam. An army general of the Ahoms of Assam who ruled for 600 years from 1226 CE, Lachit serving his masters - Ahom Rajas Swargadeo Jayadhwaj & Chakradhwaj Singha led a major victory at the Battle of Saraighat in 1671 CE trouncing Aurangazeb 's troops out of Kamrupa.
