1. be a detective. test structures above and below your target area to find the real limiting factor. don’t just guess - implement a drill, retest immediately and measure the change. this way you’re not wasting time on drills that don’t work.
2. stability matters as much as mobility. tight muscles are often compensating for something else. if shoulders get smoked during handstands or overhead work, your trunk stability might be the culprit. build a solid foundation first and watch how your shoulders respond - often they’ll naturally find more range when they feel secure.
3. change it up. elite athletes get stuck in movement patterns that worked for them in the past but become ceilings to their future success. introduce variability - new tasks, environments, and fatigue states that challenge your body to self organise. play around with gaze, grip and perturbations to try mimic the unpredictable demands of compet...
