Feeling like you can’t breathe is actually scarier than being in a coma for me. My husband didn’t film the parts when it got really really bad because I was laying on the ground unable to see from not breathing enough. I know this looks so extra, but this was an hour long event in which the beginning and end were the only things being filmed. Pneumothorax is extremely common and easily happens for those with VEDS. The tissue in your body is also extremely fragile. I advocate for myself out loud now because if I become unconscious, at least someone may have an idea of where to look and a possibility as to why. I couldn’t talk for a while though! I started leaving the gym with a friend when I started having an asthma attack. Luckily I keep a spare rescue inhaler with (along with seizure meds).
