When I think back to arriving in Wyoming in 2003 — a 20-year-old kid from Australia who had trained himself into the ground just to earn a chance — what stands out most isn’t the miles in the pool, but the people who made those early days feel like home. Buddy and Jess Boysen were two upperclassmen who took me in without hesitation. They helped me find my feet, my friends, and my place in a completely new world. Those memories, and the friendships from that time, have stayed with me ever since. And now in 2025, it’s pretty special to watch their son Jack Boysen carrying the legacy forward. He’s already opened the season with a 47.85, ahead of my old 48.04 and Buddy’s 48.48 — a reminder of how the sport evolves, and how each new generation pushes things further.
