He used “goat herders from Afghanistan” as an insult. So here is my answer. I came from Afghanistan. I fled war. I arrived in the UK as a refugee without even speaking the language. I worked. I studied. I served. I became an NHS doctor. I studied at Cambridge. I built my life by giving back to the country that gave me safety. This is what people like him never understand. Refugees are not a joke. They are not a slogan. They are not something to fear. They are people who have survived the unbearable and still chosen to contribute, serve, build, and care. There is dignity in that. There is courage in that. And there is nothing weak about starting again.
