2006 was my graduation year at Cambridge.
That photo looks like a simple “we did it” moment, and it is. But the part people don’t see is what came before it.
In the early days, I was a new refugee, carrying trauma, feeling isolated, trying to keep up in a place that felt like a different planet.
Nick was my tutor. He kept his door open. He checked in. He helped me study. He made sure I didn’t fall through the cracks. And he wasn’t the only one. There were other people like Nick along the way who chose kindness when it would have been easy to stay busy.
I genuinely don’t think I get to that graduation photo without them.
2026, we’re still here, still friends, still grateful.
