As a leader who manages teams of different sizes, one of the best leadership tools to have in your toolkit is the ability to be empathetic to your team’s mental health needs. By helping each team member celebrate the small wins and things that are important in their lives, you as a leader can help lower the effects of anxiety in the workplace.
Simple things that can help your team with their anxiety:
1. Acknowledgment within the workforce
2. Understanding them as an individual
3. Knowing their first and last names (some supervisors don’t know their team’s full names)
4. Knowing one or two things about their personal life
5. Ask about their family
6. Get the team involved in the big game
As leaders, understanding how anxiety, imposter syndrome, and self-confidence issues affect your team, can help you build a healthier and more mental health-aware ecosystem.
